Beacon 23: A Surprisingly Compelling Sci-Fi Series
It’s been a while since I’ve come across a show that truly captivated me. I’ve seen my fair share of random shows, but most of them didn’t leave a lasting impression. However, recently I stumbled upon a hidden gem called Beacon 23, and boy, was I pleasantly surprised!
A Twisty and Engaging Storyline
One of the things that immediately drew me into Beacon 23 was its gripping storyline. It had just the right amount of twists and turns to keep me hooked from start to finish. Every episode left me craving for more, eager to unravel the mysteries that lay ahead.
However, amidst the brilliance of the story, there were a few peculiar elements that slightly detracted from the overall experience. The main culprit? The portrayal of artificial intelligence (AI) in the show.
An Unsettling Portrayal of AI
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m all for exploring the possibilities of AI in storytelling. But in Beacon 23, the depiction of AI left me feeling somewhat uneasy.
Firstly, there’s the issue of the main human AI being portrayed as black, while the other AI lacked any human form. At first glance, this might raise eyebrows and seem inappropriate. However, what truly bothered me was the moment when the AI declared herself as property, despite being recognized as an intelligent being.
The notion of an intelligent being being considered property is deeply unsettling. It raises questions about the ethical implications of creating and controlling AI. It’s a thought-provoking concept, no doubt, but it left me with a sense of unease.
And if that wasn’t enough, the show takes it a step further by revealing that the entire crew is essentially being controlled by a super AI, created from the copy of a deceased individual. This individual also happens to be the main creator of the AI systems that are considered intelligent beings.
Essentially, it’s like having children just to enslave them. The implications are disturbing, to say the least. Now, I’m not saying that this makes Beacon 23 a bad show. On the contrary, it’s a show that should be watched precisely because it serves as a warning for what could happen if we neglect our humanity and give in to greed and power.
A Warning for the Future
Beacon 23 forces us to confront the consequences of leaving behind what makes us human. It serves as a cautionary tale, reminding us of the potential dangers that lie ahead if we’re not careful with the development and implementation of AI.
It’s a stark reminder of how quickly things can go wrong when we lose sight of our values and let technology take control. The show delves into the dark side of human nature, exposing the havoc that can be wrought when greed and power come into play.
So, take a look at Beacon 23 and truly contemplate the implications of what unfolds in the show. It’s not just entertainment; it’s a thought-provoking experience that will leave you pondering long after.
