Man of Steel was actually a really good movie, though it was not what I expected at all. I’ll start off with the story line. It was actually almost all new, which at first kind of put me off for a bit, but it was a great story and I loved it after a bit. Though I was kind of surprised by the way they told it – random flashbacks to moments in his life. It wasn’t what I would call captivating, in fact, it was kind of confusing until halfway through the movie when it started to fit together. Therefore, for the story line, I give it five stars. For the presentation, I give four stars.
Acting is very important to telling a story and I did like the acting in the movie. It was good, not perfect, but it was great anyway. Every actor played his or her part perfectly. And I honestly don’t have much to say about the acting. It was great, but I didn’t get pulled in completely by it. Actually, I fell asleep the first time watching, though I was falling asleep before it started and I did last 20 minutes, which was before any action started. And because of that, I gave the acting a 4.5 simply because it lacks the feel of pulling you in.
Last is the action and effects, and they were great. From the start, it had a feeling of alien to the movie, which was something I found was perfect for this movie. Then the action, which I have to say was awesome, the fight was just epic. I mean they were going at it full of DBZ anime fighting style across the whole city, just breaking buildings down and everything. Which was kind of overkill, but I didn’t really mind. The action that was in the movie was five stars.
Overall, this was a great movie to watch, but if you were going to see Superman break loose and fight for an hour, you would be disappointed. The fight lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. Though it was great, the movie was more about the story line. In other words, if you expected Avengers-type action from beginning to end, watch a different movie. However, if you want to relax with a great movie and good action in it at the end, this movie is perfect with an overall rating of 4.75 stars.
