So, it is the last day of Suicide Awareness Month, and I wanted to make a video for it all month, but there was just too much I had to do. Then I never got around to finding the right thing to put in the video, and I was going to just move on and forget about it. But then I thought, ‘Hey, my whole thing is writing, not videos, so let’s write.’
I still don’t know what really to say, but here is what I would want someone to say: “You are needed and wanted in this world. You’re not alone, and if you’re gone, I would miss you.
But enough about what I think. Here is something I know, and that is it gets better no matter what you think or how hard it may be right now; it will get better. So don’t stop everything, and it’s okay to want to give up. Take it easy and forget about everything, and just know you’re not alone, and it will get better.”
With that being said, please, if you know someone on the edge, just be there and tell them it’s going to be okay, and it will get better. But don’t, and I repeat, don’t tell them they are selfish or to think about how the people around them will feel.
I hear it all the time, and from someone who has to deal with depression due to illness, it’s the last thing you want to hear. Because in a state like that when thoughts of ending everything are on your mind, someone telling you you’re selfish when you feel alone is like telling a guy in the desert who hasn’t had a drop of water in days, praying for rain, that it shouldn’t rain because it will flood, and you just got new shoes you don’t want to get too wet.
Dismissing their pain and telling them others are more important, even if you didn’t mean it that way, it’s how it comes off.
Also, if you need someone to talk to because you feel you’re at your limit, or even if you are just feeling depressed, you can call 988 or even 911, and they will get you to someone to talk to now. Because you’re important enough to save.
And lastly, MOWuniverse is back up, and a lot of stories will be added, so if you need an escape to a different world, come join me and forget your problems for a while.
