Soooooo… Walmart’s higher-ups have made a bold statement – they predict that instead of inflation, we’ll be facing aggressive deflation. I couldn’t help but chuckle when I read this. After all, Walmart has been notorious for raising prices over the past few years. Now, I’m not saying they’re the only ones doing it, but they do seem to be at the forefront of price hikes.
It’s almost comical to hear them talk about prices going down when they’ve been quick to blame rising gas prices for their own increases. And now that gas prices have dropped, have they lowered the prices of the items that went up? Nope, not a chance.
So forgive me for being skeptical, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Walmart’s track record doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in their claims of deflation. It’s like they’re the boy who cried wolf, but instead of a wolf, it’s lower prices.
Of course, I’m not saying it’s impossible for prices to go down. Stranger things have happened. But until I see those lower price tags in the aisles of Walmart, I’ll remain a skeptic. After all, actions speak louder than words, especially when it comes to the retail giant that is Walmart.
